A couple of weeks back one of the "Would You Rather" questions on the blog was whose parents out of Biggles' four team members that you would rather meet. This week, let's turn the question on its head:
Whose parent would you rather be, out of the four?
For me, it would be Biggles, who strikes me as a fairly quiet (if occasionally doing the unexpected) child, although it might worry me a lot that he was so sick so often. I don't think Algy would make a great kid for me to have; he'd be forever turning my hair gray by doing something I'd never thought he'd do.
Ginger is wild and rebellious (never the best traits to have in a child).
I can't see Bertie as a kid. Did he have a monocle in from birth? Creepy.

Would You Rather....?
An odd would you rather question that popped randomly into my head:
Would you rather be:
Being a tiger Bertie was hunting would probably only end one way. Unless Ginger was somewhere blundering around in the vicinity and I could have a nice meal before the inevitable.
Would you rather be:
A crook Biggles was setting out to catch?A tiger Bertie was setting out to hunt? All in all, I would probably opt for being the crook. I could tell him I was turning over a new leaf and suggest that Algy be my parole officer....

Out of the four members of Biggles' team, whose relatives would you rather meet? (Assuming that they were alive and could be met, so it's okay to say you'd like to meet Charles Bigglesworth, for example.)
I think I'd like to meet Algy's father (not his mother. Never his mother *shudder*). I have a mental image of someone small and rather absent-minded as Algy's dad. He certainly couldn't have had too strong a personality--I get the feeling that Algy's mother's word was Law in the Lacey household!

Be stuck on the wrong side of the lines in WWI with a getting-over-Marie-drinking-whiskey-for-breakfast Biggles?Get hopelessly lost in the jungle with Ginger?I'd probably go for WWI Biggles. It wouldn't be easy getting back to safety, but at least I might be able to thump some sense in Biggles' head. It's much better than getting lost with Ginger, who apart from having the worst sense of direction ever, also has the worst luck ever. If there's something in that jungle that eats people, you can be sure that Ginger will find it and somehow annoy it, and then we'd both have to run for our lives...only to run into the other thing in the jungle that eats people....

If you would take one thing from the Mount Street flat, would you rather have...
Biggles' cigarette case? It's got to be the photo for me! The diamond would be great, money-wise, but it wouldn't really have much sentimental value. Same goes for the cigarette case. Biggles discards them and gets new ones like newspapers. If I had to take something from the flat, I'd want something with heart.
A photograph of our four heroes?
A diamond picked up from one of Biggles' many adventures?

Have dinner with Mahoney? We don't really see that much of Mahoney, but I think that he could be someone interesting to meet. Wilks seems a bit arrogant and competitive, and although his and Biggles' antics are fun to read, I don't know that he would be that great a dinner companion.

Have a drink with eighteen-year-old Biggles?I personally would like to meet eighteen-year-old Biggles more than air policeman Biggles. Biggles was so much more daring and fun when he was younger. After that he grew up and started worrying about things like starting wars and saving the world....

Get a fifteen minute ride in a plane piloted by Biggles?I think we all know what my answer would be. It would be great to ride in a plane with Biggles, and satisfying to kick Marie, but playing tennis with Algy? How could I resist?
Play a tennis match against Algy (assuming that you know how to play tennis and play it rather well, for those of you who don't play tennis)?
Give Marie Janis a well-deserved kick?
