How did you find The Algy Chronicles?

A bit of a random post today as it suddenly occurred to me to wonder how people who read the blog found it in the first place. (I refuse to believe that there is someone in the world religiously Googling "Algy Lacey blog" day after day in the hopes that someone would actually, someday, start one...well...considering the level of insanity occasionally to be found on this blog...maybe not...)

Anyway...how did you find this blog? And what was it that made you come back a second time...and a third time...?

Results of Favorite Character Poll!

So...a couple of weeks ago we had that Algy poll, sorry, that "Which is your favorite Biggles character" poll. There were 16 responses in all (thanks, guys!), and to my great delight, our boy passed the test with flying colors.

Yes, that's right. Algy won the favorite character poll!

But as you can see, he didn't really win by that much. I see that Biggles and Bertie have their devoted fans as well. I'm a little sad for poor Ginger, who only got three votes. 

Most common reasons given for Algy love were his loyalty, his sarcasm, and his sense of humor. His craziness was also mentioned by a couple of people...um...one of whom was me...

Biggles' fans talked about his loyalty, kindness to others, and brilliant flying. There was one particular fan who simply put "Biggles rocks" in the "Why do you like this character" box. Thanks for bringing a smile to my face. I wish that's what I'd put in my Algy reasons!

Bertie's fans love his resourcefulness and his good temper (he'd need one to put up with all the insults Biggles throws at him!).

Ginger's fans talked mostly about identifying with him because he was closer to their age when they were reading the books. One fan mentioned liking Ginger because "Because he has enough commonsense to want to learn both how to fly a plane and to fix it, something Biggles and Algy never bothered to do!" (How I love the readers of this blog!) 

Curiously, while no one saw the events in the books through the eyes of the other three characters, a couple of people talked about "being Ginger" while they were reading the books. This, I suppose, can mostly be put down to the similarity in age. (I myself remembering reading a couple of the inter-war books and wondering why Ginger seemed to have such incredibly bad luck, and also thinking that I wouldn't like to be in his shoes!)
