Algy Lacey ran into the officers' mess and cast a swift, cautious glance round the room. "Biggles is on the way here. He's in a blazing white-hot fury!" he said quickly. "Let him get it off his chest--ahem!" He broke off and reached for the bell as Biggles, the subject of his warning, kicked the door open and glared from the threshold. His face was dead white; his lips were pressed into a thin, straight line; his nostrils quivered. His eyes, half-closed, glinted as they swept over the assembled officers.
