Bransdown Books

Just dashing off a quick note here about our new advertiser. I think some of you have already noticed the new Bransdown Books banner on the top of the page.

Bransdown Books is run by a young bookseller who I have great personal admiration for (not least because I always wanted to run my own bookstore...and hold a first edition Biggles in my hands...and work with books all day...honestly, I could go on for ages about this....did I say admiration? I meant envy...). The store is based on Amazon and specializes in collectible children's fiction: Biggles, Chalet School, Jennings, Puffins, and much more.

Clicking on the banner should take you to the Amazon store so you can see what's currently in stock!

  1. This is a wonderful reminder, Soppy. I remember the Chalet School and Jennings (not to mention Biggles) but I'd forgotten about Malcolm Saville. I had to leave a lot of my children's books behind when my first marriage broke up and some of these authors had been on my bookshelves for ages. I know of at least one book I left behind that was a first edition.
I think I might go and have a little blub about them. **Heavy Sigh**

  2. Actually, now I think about it, that was probably where I lost my original edition 'Steeley' adventure 'Wings of Romance'. And to think for quite a few years I've been searching through my boxes for it.I think next time I move I'll travel with my books.

  3. Is it supposed to be a secret who the owner of Bransdown Books is, or are we allowed to say well done xxxxx?

  4. I love the font used as well. Did you work on the ad. yourself, Soppy? It is super.

  5. I've written to the person running Bransdown Books but they haven't replied yet so I'm sure whether or not it's supposed to be a secret. Let's just not name-drop :)

Yes, I made the ad. The font is called Calligraph421BT, and it was already installed in my computer (which is Microsoft; not sure if they have it on Mac)

Well, FB, at least now you know where to buy new books to replace the old ones. It's sad that you lost so many books :(

  6. I know and I can have some fun replacing them and reacquainting myself with the characters. It could have been worse. There were no Biggles books among that lot as they belonged to my brother!
