Oh my goodness!! I've just caught up with the sequel. Loved the way Algy stood up to Raymond. Biggles definitely should have done so a whole lot more frequently than he did (I always loved the scene in "Follows On" where he threatens to resign if the powers-that-be won't come to the party). But Biggles was never as inclined to disregard authority as Algy was.
Looks like they all showed disregard to authority at some time or other (especially if some one was in danger). In the book, “The Camels Are Coming” story: “The Packet”, Biggles threw a package at Raymond, who had to duck so as not to be hit.
Biggles thinks too much about consequences and stuff. Algy just does what he likes and picks up the pieces afterwards, if there are any that need picking up.
