Biggles Media Archive: Flying A Spitfire
This week's media archive tells the story of a Spitfire shot down in WWII and how it was restored over a period of four years. Includes breathtaking footage.
Such a pity about the pilot though--made me feel extremely sad.
What an amazing restoration. And how fascinating that it is such an early, almost original version. 700 modifications later, it must have looked and felt quite different.
As you say, pity about the pilot, but at least he had a life, unlike the young fliers who were shot down and killed.

It's a fantastic story. And look how well she handles as well. You'd never know that she was the same machine they dug out of the sand!
ReplyDeleteWonderful story. Thank you for posting this. The restoration is just amazing.
